It’s Race Week !

Here at Silex, we’re proud to provide some of the leading Formula 1 teams with a variety of Silicone products. The sport requires only the highest specifications and pushes materials to their absolute limits. 

This week, the teams will be racing at The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. July is one of the hottest months for Spa and is notoriously one of the wettest tracks on the calendar. With the forecast predicting 18°C and 70% rain this Sunday, racing is set to be pretty challenging. 

We offer a variety of Silicone Sponge products, which offer enhanced yet lightweight sealing capabilities. HT800 and BF1000 offer shock, heat and vibration cushioning whilst also being flame retardant – suitable for withstanding the high heats generated by the cars. Products such as SIL 16 boast low water absorption and low dust ingress, meaning that the cars won’t retain extra weight in the varying conditions seen in Spa. 

It’s not just our Sponge range that features in these immense machines – our Platinum Cured Silicone Tubing also plays an important part. With FDA, BfR and WRAS approvals, this tubing is used in the drivers’ drink systems, providing safe and easy comfort throughout each race. The Platinum Cure on this tubing also promotes high tear strength and non-yellowing benefits, allowing for a long life expectancy.
